Let’s try this again. There have been very few things in recent wrestling history as controversial as the WWE’s events in Saudi Arabia. The shows have not been the most well received and there is the entire geopolitical situation as well. That being said, WWE makes a fortune off these shows and they are not going away anytime soon. Therefore, the latest news is not all that surprising.

Last year, WWE went to Saudi Arabia on October 31 for Crown Jewel. The show took place on a Thursday and the roster needed to make it back as soon as possible for SmackDown on Friday night. It was a stretch, but something they could pull off if they rushed. However, things did not go as planned and it was not the best situation in the world. A lot of wrestlers promised to never go back and now that will be put to the test.

Sunday night at the Royal Rumble, WWE confirmed that they would be returning to Saudi Arabia for Super Showdown 2020 on Thursday February 27. At the moment there is no word on what will be taking place at the show or if any wrestlers will be refusing to make the trip. Several wrestlers, including Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have not made recent trips for various reasons.

The last edition was a big deal. Check out the most recent Super Showdown:

Opinion: I’m not sure how well this is going to go but there is almost no way it could be worse than the previous trip. These shows have not exactly gone well for WWE so far and if that is the case again, I’m not sure how it is going to go for the wrestlers. There comes a point where a big check is not enough and that might be a reality for more of the roster every time they try this. Maybe not, but it needs to improve before the wrestlers give up.
