They Had To: Details On Gable Steveson’s WWE Release, What Did And Didn’t Cause It

There was something to it. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it should be no surprise when some of them are left go from the company. This could be the case for a variety of reasons, though occasionally it is due to a lack of development as a wrestler stays around. Now we know some more about some recent releases, including one prominent name in particular.

Earlier this month, WWE released a series of names from NXT, including Olympic gold medal winner Gable Steveson. According to Fightful Select, Steveson’s release was not a surprise to several people in NXT. One star brought up how well Steveson’s brother Damon Kemp had developed compared to Steveson himself. Steveson’s prior legal issues were said to not be the reason for his release, but rather his lack of progression.

Steveson was around for a bit. Check out what he had been doing in WWE:

Opinion: This makes quite a bit of sense, as Steveson had a total of one televised during his time in WWE. There is only so much you can do with him in that kind of situation, and WWE seemed to be willing to cut their losses. Sometimes things just do not take off for a wrestler for one reason or another and that was the situation again with Steveson, who did not seem to be cut out for the industry.
