They Had A Reason: Here Is Why Kevin Owens Attacked Cody Rhodes (It Might Surprise You)

They had a reason. There are all kinds of ways to present an angle on WWE television but the company has to keep track of what they are doing. On occasion, something might be tape out of order and WWE has to make some adjustments to make sure everything works. That is what took place over the weekend, as WWE had to take some special precautions with one of its biggest angles.

Over the weekend at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes defeated Kevin Owens in the show’s main event. Following the match, Owens attacked Rhodes with a package piledriver, resulting in Rhodes being stretchered out of the arena. According to Fightful Select, WWE ran the angle to avoid spoilers from taking place at next week’s SmackDown. That show was taped in advance and the attack took place to explain why Rhodes and Owens were not on the show, which also prevented the result of their Saturday Night’s Main Event match from being spoiled.

Opinion: This is something that makes sense as there is no reason to risk spoiling the result of a major match. At the same time, it also gave WWE something to talk about going forward, as that was one heck of a big angle after the show went off the air. WWE seemed to plan this out rather well and that is more than they could have said about some previous events.
