There seems to be a crossover between the two sports. Mixed martial arts (MMA) has become a big deal in the sports world over the last ten years. The sport has taken several aspects from professional wrestling and turned it into a more mainstream sport. There are a lot of similarities between the two of them and wrestling has certainly gotten some stars out of MMA as well. This would include Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey, but now another might be wanting to get in on the act.

Former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier was a guest on Konnan’s Keeping It 100 podcast where he talked about possibly working with WWE. During the podcast, Cormier talked about some conversations with WWE about working on either Backstage or doing WWE commentary, though he was not sure if the discussions were due to WWE or FOX being interested. He made it clear that if the right opportunity came along, he would accept the offer. Cormier is a known longtime fan of WWE and has expressed an interest in working for them in some capacity. There is no word on Cormier wrestling for WWE. He has said that he wants one more fight in the UFC before retiring.

Cormier certainly seems excited. Check out the clip of him discussing the possible move:

Opinion: Cormier is one of the most successful mixed martial artists of all time and has done some rather good commentary. He knows how this kind of action works and it would make a lot of sense to put him on commentary for WWE. If you’ve heard him before you know that he is a big wrestling fan so putting him out there could work well. It brings in some mainstream credibility and an outside voice, though if Vince McMahon turns him into another puppet, none of this is going to matter anyway. If it works, great though.

Do you think Cormier would be a good commentators in WWE? What would he do best in the company? Let us know in the comments below.
