That’s a big one. There are several different kinds of stars on the AEW roster and some of them are among the best stars in the world today. It can be a big deal when one of them is away from the ring, especially if it is one of the top stars in the promotion. Unfortunately that is the case again, but now we have an update on what is going on and things could be a lot worse.

Former AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) has been out of action since December due to a variety of injuries. During his absence, MJF has been removed from the AEW official roster page, but according to PWInsider Elite by way of Wrestlinginc.com, MJF has signed a new deal with AEW and his status is a work. While MJF was in Boston for Big Business and met with AEW officials, he has not bee backstage since Worlds End in December.

You might remember MJF. Check out his time in AEW:

Opinion: That isn’t the biggest surprise as I would be a bit surprised to see MJF talk about his contract status for such a long time without having signed a new deal. It makes sense for him to be sticking around and thankfully he seems to be locked in while healing up from his injuries. MJF coming back to AEW TV will be a huge deal and AEW could play that into a huge moment if they do it right.

What do you think of MJF’s time in AEW? What should he do when he returns? Let us know in the comments below.
