The first ever. There are all kinds of titles and championships in WWE, some of which hve been around for a long time. However, all of those titles had to get their start somewhere, which can make for some rather interesting inaugural title matches. Some of the titles even have special rules around how it can be won, which was the case this week with a new title being added.

This week on WWE Speed, Ricochet defeated Johnny Gargano to become the inaugural WWE Speed Champion. The match came in the finals of a tournament, which has been held over the last several weeks and was taped last week after SmackDown in Cincinnati, Ohio. The title match had a special extended time limit of five minutes as opposed to normal matches of three minutes. There is no word on if Ricochet will defend the title on WWE shows other than Speed.
He’s a godo champ. Check out Ricochet in action:
Opinion: This is a rather logical way to go as Ricochet is someone who has been needing something to do. The Speed Title is a brand new concept and having him be the inaugural champion is something that no one else will be able to do. It helps that Ricochet has been pushed fairly well in recent weeks, meaning it does make a good bit of sense for him to be in this spot.
