That’s a long time. We are less than a week removed from WrestleMania 40 where Cody Rhodes finally finished the story by defeating Roman Reigns and winning the WWE Universal Title. With that out of the way, it is already time to start setting the stage for WrestleMania 41, which is about a year away. It is possible that WWE already did so earlier on this week in a big way.

This week’s Monday Night Raw opened with an exchange between the Rock and Rhodes, with Rock saying that while he respected Rhodes, he had to go away for a bit. Rock said that he would be back though and when he was, he would be coming for Rhodes. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, a match between the two will not take place before WrestleMania 41, which is where it could wind up taking place.

Opinion: This week’s Monday Night Raw all but confirmed that such a match was going to happen in the future, but now we get to see how WWE goes about getting there. With Rock set to go make another movie, there is only so much that he can do to set up a match. That means we might be waiting for a good while and hopefully WWE has something to help bridge the gap.
