It’s one of the important parts. There are a lot of people who come together to make any wrestling show work. While the wrestlers are the most prominent part of a wrestling broadcast, commentary is right behind them. Not only does commentary tell you what you are seeing, but they also tell you what the promotion wants you to be watching. One major promotion has been shaking its commentary up in recent weeks and now we know a bit more about what is going on.
AEW has been making changes to its commentary team in recent weeks. This has included Jim Ross calling the second hour of Dynamite before staying on for the Rampage taping later in the night. This has since changed to Ross calling all three hours between both shows. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the change was made by AEW President Tony Khan, who said that while it is something the company can do, it is not necessarily something they will be doing permanently.
Opinion: I do get the idea behind making such a change, but at the same time it is a little weird to see the switches taking place so suddenly. Maybe AEW is trying to find the combination that works the best, but this is a bit of a weird way to go about doing it. If nothing else, I’m not sure how wise it is to have Ross working all three hours, but maybe believe it is for the best.
