It is devastating to see someone put on the shelf for a long time, though the problem is not just for the wrestler. At the same time, the wrestling promotion is in trouble of its own, as they have lost something as well. Now we have an idea of what WWE might do to deal with such an issue.

Last week on Monday Night Raw, CM Punk announced that he had suffered a torn tricep muscle during the Royal Rumble match. Punk has since undergone surgery and will be out of action for most of the remainder of the year. Punk’s friend Ace Steel appeared on the Wrestling Perspective Podast and revealed that WWE “definitely” wants Punk to do commentary while he is recovering. There is no word on when or where Punk could join a commentary team, or if he has agreed to do so.

Opinion: That is a logical idea and something that could work well for both sides. Punk is one of the best talkers in wrestling today and it would make sense to put him on commentary, just for the sake of keeping him fresh in fans’ minds. At the same time, if he is a regular on commentary, he could be brought into a feud rather quickly when he is healed up and that could make for quite the moment.
