They were interested. One of the most common ways for a wrestler to get involved in the industry is to be part of a wrestling family. It can be a big deal to have a wrestler’s relative trying to get in the business as it offers a certain leg up on the competition. One such wrestler has recently signed a contract with a major promotion, but it was not his only option.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Tommy Billington, nephew of the Dynamite Kid, had signed a contract with AEW. According to Dax Harwood’s Instagram Stories by way of Cagesideseats.com, the day after Billington was offered a deal, WWE got in touch with him to see if Billington was interested in signing. There is no word on how much interest Billington had in signing with WWE.

Opinion: This is where things can get interesting, as I’m curious to see how many other stars are given the chance to pick between the two promotions. It makes sense that WWE would want to have a talented relative of one of its former stars, but at the same time, Billington had already worked with AEW and WWE ran in at the last minute. It does make me wonder how things are going to go in the future though, as Billington will not be the last person in this position.
