Yes? No? Modern wrestling has changed quite a few things, but one of the biggest is the amount of wrestling promotions that fans can see from anywhere at any time. The days of only being able to see a local territory are long over, which allows wrestlers to be seen by more people anywhere than ever before. That could change where a wrestler might want to work, and now we know some more about a major free agent.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s Not Clear: WWE Selling Incredibly Unique Jey Uso Merchandise (This Is A Weird One)
Fightful Select has several more details on Mercedes Mone’s current status. Mone is no longer under contract to New Japan Pro Wrestling, though the company does want to bring her back. It is not clear when she can wrestle anywhere else. As for AEW, there had been original plans for the two sides to work together, which had begun around All In in August, were no longer active, though there was nothing to indicate that “the door is closed” between the two sides.
WWE is said to be interested in bringing her back, but there is nothing to indicate that anything has changed. Mone is currently still out of action with an ankle injury she suffered in May and it is not clear when or where she will be able to wrestle again. Mone has previously stated that she will be returning to the ring at some point in 2024, though she offered no other details.
Mone is incredibly talented. Check out her in action in various places:
Opinion: It’s no surprise that several promotions would want Mone back as she is one of the most talented wrestlers in the world. With so many options, the question now is where she will be heading next, as she is going to have some choices to make. What matters is getting her healed up though, which seems to be well on its way to taking place. For now, all we can do is wait, which should build up some strong anticipation.
