She jumped. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works in that there is now another major American promotion where wrestlers can go other than WWE. That is a game changer for everyone involved and we have already seen several wrestlers jumping from one promotion to another. Earlier this year, Stephanie Vaquer signed with WWE after leaving CMLL, with a stopover in AEW at Forbidden Door in the way. AEW had attempted to sign Vaquer but she opted to join WWE instead. According to Fightful Select, many in AEW were surprised by how fast WWE and Vaquer came to terms.
While it was understood that WWE would want to sign someone as talented as Vaquer, it was not clear why WWE signed her before she was able to drop her CMLL titles. Finally, it is believed that AEW and New Japan will want talent appearing on shows such as Forbidden Door to sign some sort of a contract not allowing them to go to WWE shortly after such an appearance. This has yet to be confirmed by either promotion.
Vaquer has made an impact in NXT. Check out her time there so far:
Opinion: I can get the thinking from AEW here, as Vaquer did show up in WWE incredibly soon after Forbidden Door. That being said, she didn’t do anything wrong in signing with WWE over AEW if that is what she wanted to do. While things with CMLL could have been handled better, at least Vaquer seems to be happy and she might not have had that chance without AEW in the first place.
What do you think of Vaquer? Who would you like to see come from AEW to WWE and vice versa? Let us know in the comments below.
