They had a plan. WWE presents a variety of Premium Live Events every year and most of them feature quite the stacked lineups. The company has to try to give you as much as they can reasonably put together on any of these shows, but occasionally they have to make some changes. That appears to be the case again, as a planned match was replaced with another.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Makes Important Announcement Regarding Crown Jewel Championships
Earlier this week, WWE announced that Rhea Ripley had suffered a fractured orbital bone at the hands of Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plans for this weekend’s Crown Jewel match would have seen Ripley facing Rodriguez in a match. While not confirmed, it is believed that the four way Women’s Tag Team Titles match was added as a replacement, as it was added following Ripley’s injury on October 21. There is no word on when Ripley could return to the ring.
It was set up. Check out Ripley and Rodriguez’s recent history:
Opinion: This is something that has to be done every so often and while you never want to see it, at least WWE had something on hand to replace it. That’s one of the perks of having such a deep talent roster, as the company can easily swap something in rather than letting the fans lose out on something. In this case, it helps that Ripley vs. Rodriguez was never announced in the first place, so it could have been much worse.
