History has been made! Titles are the kind of thing that can always be used to make a feud or story move forward. They aren’t that difficult of a concept: the best wrestlers have a big shiny belt and someone wants to take it away from them for one reason or another. That has worked for years and it is going to work again today, even in a bit of a way that was not expected.

The NXT Tag Team Titles have been one of the most important parts of the promotion since their inception. They have put on some of the best matches that NXT has ever seen, which can make for some incredible and memorable moments. The titles have been a great addition to NXT and now they have changed hands again, in a way that took a lot of people by surprise.

This week on NXT, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan won the NXT Tag Team Titles by defeating Breezango. Undisputed Era was scheduled to challenge for the titles but Bobby Fish was attacked backstage, forcing General Manager William Regal to make Lorcan and Burch the #1 contenders instead. During the match, a masked man attacked Fandango to cost Breezango the titles. After the match was over, the masked man was revealed to be Pat McAfee, who had not been seen since Takeover: XXX in August.

And that is undisputed. Check out how the title match went down:

Opinion: This is a necessary change as Breezango were feeling more like filler champions throughout their reign. They were much goofier than most of the champions so putting them on a more serious team like Burch and Lorcan is an upgrade. Lorcan and Burch are the kind of team who can have some more intense matches, which can help things out a good bit. It was a smart move, and something that upgrades the whole division.
