It’s a big deal. There are all kinds of championships in wrestling today and several of them are among the most important in all of the industry. Winning a championship can change the way a wrestler’s career works and it can make a world of difference in what they are doing. This week saw a huge moment for a popular AEW star, as he has won his first major title.
The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Orange Cassidy defeat Pac to win the All-Atlantic Title, marking his first title in the company. Cassidy had been chasing the title for several weeks, with Pac turning him down for a title shot because he did not consider Cassidy to be a real contender. Cassidy has been part of AEW since its inception and unsuccessfully challenged for multiple titles.
Opinion: AEW nailed this one and they did it in a way with low stakes that felt high. The All-Atlantic Title might not be the most important championship in the company but winning it means a lot to Cassidy. He got his big moment and that is what matters the most here. Whether he loses it tomorrow or anytime soon doesn’t matter, as the whole thing was about him getting his win here, and that is officially covered.
