It just keeps growing. We are less than two weeks away from WrestleMania Backlash and the card is only starting to come together. As we came into Monday Night Raw, there were only three matches set for the card. That means a lot of work still needs to be done and one of the matches was made just before the show went on the air. Once the show was on the air though, the match has already been changed.
Earlier on Monday, a Raw Women’s Title match was set for WrestleMania Backlash with Rhea Ripley defending against Asuka announced for the show. The match will be a rematch from WrestleMania 37 when Ripley won the title. The two already had a rematch the night after WrestleMania but Charlotte interfered to cause a double DQ. This week on Monday Night Raw, Sonya Deville added Charlotte to the match to make it a triple threat.
Opinion: Is this really a surprise? As soon as the one on one match was announced, I was expecting Charlotte to be added in some way. It was weird enough to not have her on the Wrestlemania card but it would have been even weirder to not have her on back to back pay per views. This is a change you almost had to know was coming, though I’m not sure if it is something that needed to happen.
At the end of the day, it would be kind of nice to not have Charlotte involved in the title picture so often. Is there really nothing else that she could be doing right now? Charlotte is an incredibly talented star and someone who can help almost anyone she faces. Why not let her use those skills to bring someone else up a bit instead of putting her in another title match? It might be nice for a change.
What do you think of the change? Who leaves with the title? Let us know in the comments below.
