Speculation Over How WWE May Keep AJ Styles Around Longer Than Planned

Stick around? Injuries can cause all kinds of issues in wrestling, both for the wrestlers and the promotions where they work. While the wrestler has to deal with getting healthy enough to get back in the ring, the promotions have to find a way to make up for someone missing. There are ways that this can be remedied later on, and that might be what we are seeing in the near future.

Back in October of last year, AJ Styles wrestled his first televised match for WWE in nearly four months, only to suffer an injury, causing the match to be stopped. Styles has not wrestled since the injury and there is no word on when he will be able to return to the ring. According to Fightful by way of Cagesideseats.com, there is a belief that Styles’ WWE contract was about to expire, but the company may add time onto it due to his injury hiatus. It is not clear how long WWE would add to the deal, or if they will at all.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes for an interesting situation, as WWE is perfectly within their rights to add time to the contract, but it can also look a bit rough. What makes a difference here is the fact that WWE at least seems interested in using Styles, which is not always the case with such contract extensions around the wrestling world. It would be nice to have Styles back though, as someone with his talent being gone is never a good thing.
