It’s another way to go. One of the biggest changes throughout the last generation of wrestling has been the breaking down of kayfabe. What once defined professional wrestling has since become more of a token idea which is gone as soon as the match ends. That may or may not have been for the greatest good of wrestling, but WWE is now going to take things even a step further.

We are coming up on the seven year anniversary of the WWE Network and that means seven years of a new era for wrestling fans. The Network has allowed fans access to more material than they can reasonably consume. Not only are there hundreds of wrestling shows, but there are also several documentaries and special features. We are going to be in for a lot more of the latter.

Steve Conoscenti, WWE’s Senior Producer, recently spoke to Wrestlinginc.com about what will be coming to the WWE Network in the near future. Conoscenti mentioned that there will be several new series, including some that go to the hometowns of wrestlers for a closer look at their backgrounds. This will include a Beth Phoenix documentary partially filmed in her hometown in Elmira, New York. In addition, fans can expect more WWE 24, the Icon series and Ruthless Aggression season 2, among others.

This could be interesting. Check out what is coming, plus a look at Phoenix:

Opinion: This sounds great, though I would be a bit more interested in seeing some more old school wrestling on the Network rather than all of these documentaries. These are great, but you can only do so many documentaries and looks back at wrestling without showing the actual wrestling. At least these things should be rather good as they are often some of the best things in wrestling today.
