Can it survive baseball? “Smackdown Live” hasn’t had the best ratings year and coming off the Fourth of July while also dealing with the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, things weren’t looking great going into this week either. John Cena is still around though and the question is how well can he do without dealing with a major holiday.

Top 10 SmackDown LIVE moments: WWE Top 10, July 11, 2017

According to Showbuzz Daily, the answer is not too bad. The show drew 2.465 million viewers, which is up 6% from last week’s 2.329 million. The main event of this week’s show saw John Cena and AJ Styles team up to face Rusev and Kevin Owens, plus dealt with the fallout from Styles winning the US Title over the weekend.

Opinion: That’s not the strongest number coming off the Fourth of July last week. At the end of the day, I’m not sure how well this show can do with Jinder Mahal as the World Champion. A lot of fans are going to hear that Mahal, a guy they perceive as a joke, is champion and not watch because they won’t take him seriously. That’s a problem that needs to be addressed but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
