He’s not a fan. Wrestling has a lot of components to it but at the end of the day, a lot of it is about winning and losing. Fans will often get behind a wrestler who is on a long winning streak as it makes that person look like more of a dominant force. That can often lead a wrestler much higher up the ladder in a promotion, but now a wrestler with a rather famous winning streak has something to say.

During his WCW career, Goldberg had an undefeated streak that lasted over a year and a half and was often the focal point of his career. Goldberg appeared on Tim Green – Nothing Left Unsaid and discussed Asuka (whose name he mispronounced) having a longer undefeated streak in WWE. Goldberg said (transcription courtesy of F4WOnline.com):

“Well, a girl beat my winning streak… beat my undefeated streak. I can’t even remember… Asuka was her name, some Japanese girl. And they touted her as being the one to have the longest winning streak. And it just so happened that that culminated when I got there, right?”

Back in 2017, when Asuka’s streak was still intact, Goldberg praised Asuka, saying “the streak is in good hands”.

Asuka had a heck of a streak. Check out her time being undefeated:

Opinion: That is hardly the best thing for Goldberg to say as it comes off as rather negative in a lot of ways. Goldberg having a winning streak was a big deal and it’s hardly like he is the only star to go undefeated for a long time. His second run in WWE saw him win multiple World Titles so it’s not like he was shunted to the sidelines. This was not a great thing for him to say and unfortunately it is likely going to hurt his memory at least a little bit.

What does this mean for Goldberg? Whose streak was more impressive? Let us know in the comments below.
