What a night. Summerslam has come and gone and just like every other year, the show was one of the biggest on WWE’s calendar. It was certainly a huge show and a lot of things happened on the card. There were a lot of title matches on the card and some of them saw the gold change hands. It was a busy night for the champions, but how did they fare in their defenses?

There were seven title matches at Summerslam with four title changes. The show opened with RKBro defeating AJ Styles and Omos to win the Raw Tag Team Titles. Second, Damian Priest defeated Sheamus to win the United States Title. Next, the returning Becky Lynch defeated Bianca Belair to win the SmackDown Women’s Title. Finally, Charlotte defeated Nikki Ash and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match to win the Raw Women’s Title.

In addition, there were also three successful title defenses on the show. First, the Usos defeated Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio to retain the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. Next, Bobby Lashley defeated Goldberg to retain the WWE Championship via referee stoppage. Finally, Roman Reigns defeated John Cena to retain the Universal Title in the show’s main event.

It was a huge night. Check out some of the title changes:

Becky Lynch makes shocking SummerSlam return: SummerSlam 2021 (WWE Network Exclusive)

Charlotte Flair plants both Nikki A.S.H. and Rhea Ripley: SummerSlam 2021 (WWE Network Exclusive)

Sheamus sets out to humiliate Damian Priest: SummerSlam 2021 (WWE Network Exclusive)

Opinion: Summerslam was a very busy show and that is what it should have been. It felt like something happened on this show and I’m curious to see how it goes from here. If nothing else, it might be the fresh start that WWE has been looking for, though none of that is going to matter if things are right back to where they were before starting next week. For now though, the title changes feel important and that is a good thing.
