Keep counting. The Royal Rumble is just over a week away and that means it is time to fill in even more of the spots in the pair of thirty person Royal Rumble matches. With sixty spots available for a chance at a WrestleMania title shot, there are going to be quite a few announcements coming one after another. That was certainly the case again this week as things were moving rather fast.

The announcements for the Royal Rumble matches are some of the more interesting things about the build to the show. In addition to finding out where things might be going, they allow fans to start putting the match together in their heads before we get to the pay per view itself. There was a lot more to think about this week, as seven more names were announced for the matches.

This week’s SmackDown saw four men and three women announced for their respective Royal Rumble matches. The men’s match saw Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Shinsuke Nakamura and Big E. all enter, bringing the total number of male entrants to thirteen. The women’s match saw Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott and Tamina added, bringing the total number of female entrants to twelve.

Opinion: These announcements are always worth at least a look, as you have to build the match up in one way or another. This is about as good of a way as there is, as you can’t draw in much interest without saying what the fans are going to be able to see. There are still more than half of the spots left to go, but at least now we are getting a much clearer picture of what to expect.
