Second Chance: How WWE Changing Plans Delayed Special Reunion For Three Months

That would have been different. Tag teams have a long history in wrestling and some of them have been incredibly successful over the years. There have been teams who have had all kinds of success and done very well for themselves and it can be a special moment when one of those teams reunites after a long time apart. That was the case earlier this week, but it turns out there were plans long before that.

The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Tommaso Ciampa unsuccessfully challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Title. Following the loss, Imperium attacked Ciampa, resulting in Johnny Gargano making the save and reuniting with Ciampa. According to Fightful Select, Ciampa and Gargano, collectively known as DIY, were expected to reunite on June 19’s Monday Night Raw. The original plan would have called for Ciampa to answer an open challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship with Judgment Day attacking him, leading to Gargano making the save. Plans were changed at the last minute though.

Opinion: This is the kind of reunion that could make things interesting for everyone involved as it isn’t like Ciampa has anything going on at the moment. At the same time, Gargano has still yet to really find his footing in WWE and it would be nice to see him have some success outside of NXT. Maybe this is the ticket for a good start and that would be nice to see.
