Say What? Interesting Detail On CM Punk's AEW Collision Promo

He had a lot to say. Last weekend, AEW Collision debuted, featuring the return of CM Punk following a nine month layoff due to tricep surgery and a suspension. Punk wrestled in the main event but also opened the show with a promo for his first major comments since he left AEW television. He touched on a variety of subjects and now we know an interesting detail about the promo.

According to PW Insider Elite, Punk’s promo was “100% off the cuff” and was not pre-written and approved. While there were certain lines that Punk wanted to include, he was given the freedom to say what he wanted to the crowd. There is nothing to suggest that there is any heat on Punk for what he said and there is even a chance that he will be returning to Dynamite soon.

Opinion: If there is one thing Punk has always been great at doing, it is capturing the fans in the palm of his hand when he gets the chance to speak. That was on display again here and it was nice to have him back. At the end of the day, Punk still feels like one of the biggest stars in AEW and it is going to be very interesting to have him back after all of the insanity that happened with his first departure.
