It’s one way to go. Wrestling is a rather unique form of entertainment as it is a combination of sports, drama, action comedy and more. There are all kinds of way to present a wrestling show and with so much television time to fill every week, WWE has to do something different to cover everything. Now they might be trying something different to fill in their shows.
There were several storylines over the course of 2020 but none of them ran longer than the saga of the Mysterio family vs. Seth Rollins. This feud went on for months and dragged in several different names. Two of the names involved were Murphy and Aalyah Mysterio, who wound up together after everything ended. That was one aspect of the story and now you might be seeing more like it.
During a recent edition of the Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross discussed a rumor that he had heard about WWE wanting to utilize more romance based storylines in the future. Ross feels that this is something Vince McMahon would choose to do as McMahon has always loved adding a sexual element to it. This is still a rumor at this point, as Ross did not say that it was something he was sure would be happening.
WWE has tried romance before. Check out what they have in mind:
Opinion: I’m not sure how something like this would go, as the idea makes sense on its own, but there is more to it than that. Just having a romantic storyline is fine, but you need a reason for it to be there. That is the case with any wrestling story and I would be worried that WWE would just throw something out there without putting in the effort and it would do more harm than good. Maybe not, but WWE does not always have the best track record with concepts.
