Tournaments are still awesome! Over the last two years, WWE has held major tournaments over the late summer. In 2016 the first annual Cruiserweight Classic introduced the world to several new cruiserweights and 2017 saw the Mae Young Classic do the same to a bunch of female wrestlers. Now we may be ready to see a new crop of talent getting their exposure on the WWE stage.

According to Planeta Wrestling, WWE may be hosting a Latin American tournament later in the year. The tournament would include wrestlers from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Peru and other countries. The tournament would be held in Chile by the end of August with no word as to what the winner would receive.

Maybe we could see the Latin American version of this:

Mae Young Classic Parade of Champions: July 13, 2017

Opinion: While this would overlap a bit with the Cruiserweight Classic, we’re two years removed from the initial tournament and things could be different enough to work out quite well. Lucha libre has been a popular style all over the world for years now and it could be very interesting to see more of it appear on WWE TV. While the tournament isn’t confirmed yet, it’s a cool rumor.
