The boss spoke. There is no one in wrestling more powerful than Vince McMahon. He has done a lot of controversial things in wrestling over the years and that is still the case to this day. McMahon is known to make changes at the last second to Monday Night Raw and that means he can cause some chaos around the show. Now he is doing the same with pay per views.

We are less than three days away from Payback, which is only a week removed from Summerslam. That is quite the turnaround and it is proving to be quite the challenge for WWE to set up another pay per view card that fast. It doesn’t help when McMahon is looming over the whole thing, and that is the case again here as he has changed what seemed to be a pretty obvious Payback match.

According to Tom Colohue of SportsKeeda.com, the original plans for Payback called for Randy Orton to face Drew McIntyre in a Summerslam rematch for the WWE Championship. McIntyre offered Orton a rematch on Monday Night Raw but Orton Punted McIntyre in the head three times instead. Keith Lee will be facing Orton at the pay per view instead. It is not clear when Orton vs. McIntyre will happen again.

It was a wild Monday. Check out what we got to set up Payback:

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised whatsoever as the match did seem to be fairly obvious, but at the same time it might be better to stretch things out a little bit. There is no need to do the same match twice in a week, though then again there is little reason to have two pay per views on back to back weekends either. I’m not sure when Orton vs. McIntyre will take place again, but if it lives up tot he previous match, they’ll be fine.
