The special guest star. Wrestling has a very deep history, but unlike other sports its legends can regularly appear in an on-screen role long after their careers are over. It might be in a different way than before, but some of the best moments you get are from cameos and guest stars. We may be in for another one of those next week in a pretty unique kind of role.

If there is one thing that wrestling has had plenty of over the last few decades, it is authority figures. WWE alone has gone through more than they can count, many of which are names who had another career before going into the role. Some of these worked better than others and would likely be welcomed back for another surprise visit. That will be the case next week, albeit for another company.

According to Reddit user SpaceForce1 (who provided accurate spoilers for AEW Fyter Fest in July) by way of Wrestlinginc.com, Eric Bischoff will be making his AEW debut as the guest moderator for the debate between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy. Jericho had promised a special moderator but had not said who it would be. There is no word on if this would be a one off appearance or the start of a longer series of appearances for Bischoff.

Bischoff has some experience. Check out some of his time in authority:

Opinion: I can go for this as a one off but I really hope they don’t try to have Bischoff around regularly. Bischoff’s time in both WCW and WWE went well but there comes a point where it is time to move on to someone else. You don’t need to have the same people out there over and over again. Find someone fresh and let them do whatever Bischoff might be doing. Bischoff is fine for one night, but keep it at one night.

What do you think of the move? Should Bischoff stick around? Let us know in the comments below.
