Oh what could have been. To say that the handling of Braun Strowman as of late has been up in the air is an understatement. Some fans want him to be the top star in the promotion and the one to take down Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title while some just want to see him break a bunch of things. What some people weren’t happy with seeing him do was win the Raw Tag Team Titles with a ten year old named Nicholas at WrestleMania 34. As you may have deduced, that wasn’t the first plan of action.

Never forget.

Nicholas' unreleased entrance video

According to givemesport.com, the original plans for the WrestleMania 34 match called for Bobby Lashley to return to the company as Strowman’s partner with the team winning the titles. They would eventually split up with Lashley turning on Strowman, triggering a feud between the two of them. Lashley did return the next night on Monday Night Raw and has teamed with Strowman multiple times since. They’ll be a team again this Sunday at Backlash.

Opinion: I mean, yeah it makes sense to do it and would have been a better long term moment than what we got, which is likely why WWE went the other way. The more I think about the Nicholas idea, the less I care for it. They had about a dozen reasonable options to set something up for the match and in the end we got a joke which was ended the next night. They could have gone with something interesting and now it seems that they might be going that way anyway. In other words, another unnecessary bump in the road and that gets really annoying in a hurry.
