Making it (semi) official. One of the big stories over the last few weeks has been the future of Matt Riddle. The former UFC fighter has been one of the hottest free agents in the current market and it seems to be almost a guarantee that he’s going to be signing with a major company in the near future. That almost has to be WWE or New Japan, and we now may have some details of what’s going on.

According to Ringsidenews.com, Riddle has signed a contract with the WWE and the plan is for him to make his debut in the crowd at this month’s Takeover: Brooklyn IV special. The contract is said to be for three years. Riddle has wrestled for various independent promotions since his career began in 2015. He has recently been finishing up his independent dates, including one with Combat Zone Wrestling which caused a bit of controversy.

You might not know much about Riddle but that’s what mini documentaries are for.

EVOLVE Mini-Doc: Matt Riddle

Opinion: I don’t think it’s much of a secret that Riddle is heading to WWE. He’s one of the biggest independent wrestlers in the world and could be a major star. When you consider how far he’s come in such a short amount of time, the idea of giving him the WWE level of coaching is absolutely amazing. NXT certainly has a great reputation for building up talent and Riddle is already looking like a natural.
