It wouldn’t feel right to not get him in one more time. There were very few stories in 2019 with as many twists and turns as that of Lars Sullivan. He showed up, wrestled two matches on the main roster and then went on the injured list for the second half of the year. Things have gotten even more complicated for him since then, but what was supposed to happen before he went away?

Sullivan’s time in WWE has been all over the place as he showed a ton of potential down in NXT, only to have his past history of homophobic comments on a bodybuilding forum come to light. Then earlier this month it was revealed that he had been a pornographic actor before starting his wrestling career. With so much time on the shelf, you have to wonder how far he could have gotten.

According to Fightful Select by way of Sportskeeda.com, Sullivan was going to be built up as an unstoppable monster with an eventual match against Brock Lesnar being a possibility. Sullivan’s knee injury took place before anything could be set up and Lesnar and Sullivan’s paths never crossed in WWE. Sullivan was also rumored to be facing John Cena at WrestleMania 35 but the match never took place due to Sullivan’s anxiety issues.

Sullivan showed a lot of potential right out of the gate. Check out his main roster debut:

Opinion: I could go for some monster vs. monster brawling like this but I’m not sure how likely an upset would have been. Sullivan was a force, but WWE is VERY protective of Lesnar. I’m not sure if I could imagine WWE pulling the trigger on such a rocket push, though stranger things could have happened. Either way, Sullivan’s career has taken a massive hit and I’d be surprised if he ever came close to reaching that point again.
