Roman Reigns Says a Heel Turn Would Be Pointless

Oh Roman. If there’s one person who is guaranteed to get a reaction from WWE crowds, it’s Roman Reigns. The fans are going to react to him almost no matter what he does, though the question is should he be a heel, a face or the kind of hybrid he is now. We now have a bit more insight from Reigns himself.

Reigns recently appeared on “Talk is Jericho” to discuss a variety of topics, including whether he should turn into a full on heel instead of being whatever he is now. Reigns didn’t seem thrilled with the idea as he didn’t exactly see how much of a difference it would make. Here are his comments, transcribed by Wrestlinginc.com:

“The thing is, if I turn heel, what am I? Am I just going to, like, become a chicken like, just like everything that [has] been done or why not just be me? Like no one has ever been like me. This is an uncharted territory. It can be anything I want it to be, so why put myself on one side of it? Why not just dabble? Why not have the full range, do whatever I want, be ‘The Guy’? Do you know what I mean? That’s how I feel. I’m the one writing this at this point right now. We’re in a position [where] we can do anything we want as long as they make noise.”

Opinion: He’s not wrong. The problem with Reigns is that the fans are going to boo him no matter what he does in the current role (see him nearly being murdered last night on “Monday Night Raw”, thereby making Braun Strowman into a huge face) but what happens if he’s turned? Odds are he’ll eventually be cheered because Reigns has the talent to be appreciated for what he does.
