When generations collide. Back in the late 1980s, almost no one was as over as the Road Warriors. Later known as the Legion of Doom, Hawk and Animal were two of the most imposing in and at times downright scary people you would ever see in wrestling. After all, there’s a reason the huge pops are known as Road Warrior pops. However, some things have changed since their day and Animal doesn’t quite seem to agree.

On a recent episode of his What A Rush podcast, Animal was talking about the Women’s Revolution and Becky Lynch in particular. The discussion began focusing on Lynch’s The Man moniker and Animal wasn’t exactly a fan. Animal talked about how unrealistic the gimmick was and how wrestling needs to be as realistic as possible. Lynch quickly replied on Twitter and didn’t seem to agree. Here are Animal’s comments (with transcription courtesy of stillrealtous.com), followed by Lynch’s reply:

“I would let her back off of ‘The Man’ thing and let her just be a pure white meat babyface that doesn’t quit. Those are the kind of babyfaces that work. When you come out there with the attitude and strutting your stuff like she’s some kind of tough guy, come on! Jesus, Lord, anybody that’s ever been in a fight can see right through it and I’m just being realistic because that’s what works in this business. You’ve got to think shoot and work the shoot and right now they’re not taking advantage of their stars who are stars.”

Lynch has been on fire as of late. See how she got there with this outstanding mini documentary:

Becky Lynch's journey from "doctor jail" to WWE TLC: WWE Chronicle

Opinion: While there have been worse things said about women’s wrestling, there does come a point where you have to realize what’s going on right in front of you. Lynch is on fire right now and no one has been hotter in a very long time. That’s the kind of thing you run with rather than change and there’s a reason why Lynch is currently in the position she’s in. Run with what’s working until it doesn’t anymore, like the Road Warriors did for example. Just cut it off because it gets sad, instead of like the Road Warriors did for example.
