Not yet. We are in the period after WrestleMania and that would usually mean that there would be some names making surprise returns. One of them did appear as Matt Riddle returned on Monday Night Raw, but that was the only major name of the week. It turns out that one name who has been missing for a long time is nowhere near ready to return despite some recent speculation.

Randy Orton has been out of action since May 2022 with a back injury and has not been mentioned in the months since. Leading up to WrestleMania 39, there had been some rumors that Orton had been discussed backstage in WWE. However the Wrestling Observer Newsletter contacted WWE about Orton’s status and was told that his back injury is not healed up enough to the point where he is ready to return. There is no word on when he will be able to return to the ring.

Opinion: This injury has almost kept Orton out of action for a year and there is nothing to suggest that he will be back in the ring anytime soon. There is a very real chance that Orton will never wrestle again and that is a shame for one of the biggest names WWE has ever had. It would be great to have Orton back for the sake of getting to leave after one more big story, but that might not be possible anytime soon.
