The wait continues. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to any wrestler as they can completely derail someone’s career. While most of them are not going to cause any significant time away from the ring, there are going to be some which result in a wrestler being away for a very good while. That is happening at the moment in WWE, and the latest update is not so positive.

Randy Orton has not been seen on WWE TV since May 2022 due to a back injury. Orton has undergone lower back fusion surgery, which is not considered a common surgery for wrestlers. There has been no indication that he is close to returning to WWE and according to Fightful Select, he is not included in any current WWE creative plans. Orton is said to be working out and lifting again but not taking bumps in the ring yet. There is no word on when he will be returning to WWE TV, assuming he does.

Opinion: That isn’t exactly encouraging to hear as Orton is not sounding like he is close to a comeback. At the same time, that might be a very good thing as Orton’s back surgery was such a huge ordeal that he might not be able to come back to the ring. What matters the most is his health of course, and that does not include coming back when you have had major back surgery.
