Old vs. new. One of the longest standing issues in professional wrestling is the generation gap. Every generation of wrestlers is convinced that their generation is smarter than the one that came after it and in the days with Twitter as an option, the older wrestlers can offer such critiques, whether solicited or not.

That’s the case again today with retired veteran/longtime and current Ohio Valley Wrestling trainer Rip Rogers taking a shot at the indy wrestling scene. Rogers posted a message (which should be noted he DID NOT write) on Twitter, talking about how indy matches today are the same things over and over without being much of value.

Indy star Will Ospreay replied, saying he was happy with what he was doing. Rogers responded as well, and not in the way you might expect.

Current WWE wrestler TJP chimed in as well on Instagram:

Opinion: I get where Rogers is coming from but very simply put, as Ospreay said, he’s getting paid to do this. That’s how indy wrestling works at this point and it’s going to stay that way as long as people buy tickets or DVDs or pay to stream the shows. Rogers doesn’t go as far as some do with his criticisms and does seem to understand that Ospreay is doing what gets him paid and makes him happy, but this is something we’ve heard many times before and it gets a bit tiring.
