And never mind. Earlier this week, rumors started to swirl about Rey Mysterio possibly coming back to WWE to face John Cena in a major match at “Wrestlemania XXXIV”. While the match was never confirmed, something has changed that will take away any real chance of the match taking place anyway.

Here’s where he was before the change.

Rey Mysterio makes a shocking return in the Royal Rumble Match: Royal Rumble 2018 (WWE Network)

According to Dave Meltzer at F4Wonline.com, Mysterio suffered an injury which may have been a torn biceps during a match on Friday night. Mysterio was in a tag match with Flip Gordon against Joey Mercury and Caleb Konley for Northeast Wrestling. The injury didn’t stop the match as Mysterio hit a double 619 and a top rope splash to pin Konley. There is no word on the extent of the injury but it would likely keep Mysterio out of a potential “Wrestlemania” match.

Opinion: Well dang. The match could have been a big deal if it actually took place but now it’s a moot point. Hopefully Mysterio isn’t too badly injured, but this is something that happens way too often with him. It seems that Mysterio is always injured and there’s only so much you can do when you can’t depend on him staying healthy.

Mysterio could have been great against Cena, because he’s just that good.
