Take your time. Having the right name is one of the most important parts of any wrestler’s presentation. Giving a wrestler the wrong name is something that can cause them quite a bit of trouble as it puts them on a bad track. Occasionally you will see a wrestler change course and get a better name, which was the case this week. Now we know a bit more about the thinking that went into the change.

This week on SmackDown, Butch changed his name back to Pete Dunne, which he had used in the earlier parts of his career with the company. The change had been hinted at the previous week but was not yet announced. According to PWInsider.com, WWE included the previous week’s hint to build up some anticipation to the change rather than having the Dunne name randomly return.

Opinion: I like the thinking from WWE here, as instead of just barreling ahead with the change, they built up a little anticipation. Dunne’s name change might not be the biggest deal in the world, but giving it a quick vignette the previous week helped make things feel more important. It’s a nice thing to see instead of the way WWE had been doing things for so long and hopefully it continues.
