That’s effort. There are certain times when a wrestling promotion wants to surprise its fans and will go to great lengths to make that happen. It can be a rather special moment if a promotion can make it happen and the harder a company works to do it, the more impressive things can be. WWE attempted to do it this week and even used some tricks to make it work.

This week’s NXT saw TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace make a surprise appearance where she was named as the new #1 contender to Roxanne Perez’s NXT Women’s Title. According to PWInsider.com by way of Cagesideseats.com, WWE hid Grace’s appearance by listing her as Alexa Bliss or Lita on run sheets and playing Lita’s theme music at a show run-through. In addition, Perez’s reaction was genuine as she asked to not know who her opponent would be until the opponent appeared.

It was impressive. Check out what Grace has done in WWE:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can make the moment that much more special. The fans, and Perez, were stunned to see Grace and that made things all the better. Grace already made an impression in the Royal Rumble and having her show up again in NXT for a special match should make things all the better. I’m curious to see where this goes and WWE has already put in the effort to get it off to a nice start.
