Knowing is half the battle, even on SmackDown. We are in some rather different times at the moment as the Coronavirus has changed almost everything about how the wrestling world works. That is likely to be the case for a good while to come, which is not the best news in the world. One change that has taken place is the taping of several WWE shows in advance, which can cause some issues, including one like this.

Last month, Matt Riddle made his main roster debut in a big way as he defeated Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles in a non-title match. That is the kind of thing that you don’t see very often and it put Riddle on a nice path to start things out. You have to go somewhere after that though and that somewhere is a title shot on this week’s SmackDown. We might even know how that is going to go.

According to Fightful Select, Riddle will not win the title in his match against Styles. Instead, Styles will successfully defend the championship and then beat Riddle down with the help of King Corbin. This comes after Riddle and Corbin have been teasing a feud of their own, though they have not yet had a match. The match will be Riddle’s third as part of the main roster.

Riddle has gotten off to a fast start. Check out his time on the main roster:

Opinion: I know WWE certainly loves him but I could feel the energy go out of the show as soon as Corbin was mentioned. It almost feels like this requirement that has to be accomplished before anyone can move on to anything else. That isn’t exactly the most thrilling way to go and I’m hoping that Riddle can move on from him quickly. The last thing that Riddle needs is a long feud with Corbin, which has rarely worked out well for anyone involved.
