Keep an eye on it. There have been several major wrestling stories in the first few weeks of the year and the most recent has been the Rock returning, seemingly to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. This came after Cody Rhodes, the Royal Rumble winner, said that he would not be facing Reigns at the show, which has not been well received. It seems that WWE has heard something about the problem.

According to PWInsider.com, WWE is “absolutely” monitoring the negative reaction on social media in relation to the change. The YouTube clip of the segment has nearly 100,000 likes and over 500,000 dislikes. This comes amid issues of fans booing the video recap when it was played at recent live events. There is no word on if WWE is planning to make another change, but it is still a possibility.

Opinion: While I don’t know if I can imagine WWE making a change with this, it does see like they are at least paying attention to the whole ordeal. Rock vs. Reigns is a dream match but it might not be the match that the fans want right now. Maybe things can change up a bit, though I’m not sure I can imagine them reversing course so fast, even with this kind of a backlash.
