They had a plan in mind. We are less than a week away from WWE Night Of Champions, with the show featuring a triple main event. One of the three major matches will be a Backlash rematch as Cody Rhodes faces Brock Lesnar. This comes after Lesnar has repeatedly attacked Rhodes, who refuses to back down. It seems WWE had a special idea in mind during a recent Rhodes segment.

The closing segment of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Triple H come in to see Rhodes, following Lesnar damaging Rhodes’ arm earlier in the night. Rhodes insisted that he was facing Lesnar at Night Of Champions no matter what, with Triple H accepting the decision. According to Fightful Select, the idea of the segment was to have a major name endorse Rhodes before his match against Lesnar. Night Of Champions is scheduled for May 27 at 1pm EST.
It was a busy night. Check out the segment, plus what Rhodes has been through lately:
Opinion: I get the thinking behind the segment, but Rhodes has already main evented WrestleMania and beaten Lesnar in a major main event. How much more of an endorsement does he really need at this point? There is a good chance that he loses at Night Of Champions and after that, I’m not sure how of a positive impact this kind of an endorsement is going to have.
