They need a new idea. There are very few ideas in modern wrestling as controversial as the WWE shows in Saudi Arabia. Due to a combination of the international situation and the shows themselves not being very well received in the first place, the series has become one of the bigger messes WWE has. They make a fortune from them, though that might not be enough to overcome the latest issue.

One of the wildest stories in the wrestling world in 2019 was the debacle of getting the WWE roster out of Saudi Arabia. Following the Crown Jewel event on October 31, the WWE roster was detained in the country for reasons that still are not entirely clear. There has been speculation ranging from Vince McMahon getting in an argument with the government to mechanical problems with the plane. Some of the wrestlers got out, but that won’t be an issue this time around.

According to PW Insider Elite Audio, there is an unofficial edict among the roster and production crew that no one leaves the country before everyone else. They will all leave together, due to some issues last year over one group leaving before everyone else. This rule does not apply to McMahon himself, who may leave before everyone else. Super ShowDown takes place on Thursday February 27.

There have been some good moments in Saudi Arabia. Check out some of their highlights:

Opinion: There isn’t much of a positive way to spin this whole situation. WWE looks pretty bad for doing business with the country and then the roster has to all stay together or risk being stuck over there again? I know the two sides are going to work together for a long time to come, but the fans don’t exactly seem thrilled with these shows. Can you blame them after all of the drama?

How do you see this situation going? Will WWE complete their ten year contract with Saudi Arabia? Let us know in the comments below.
