That’s what he is. There were two major WWE returns at Survivor Series last month, as both Randy Orton and CM Punk returned to the company after very long absences. That is the kind of change that can shake up WWE and the two of them have already started making a big impact. Now things are starting to shake out a little bit and we have a better idea of where thing stand.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Very High On Two SmackDown Stars, Giving Them Bigger Roles

Last week on SmackDown, Randy Orton signed an exclusive contract with the show, meaning he will no longer be appearing on Monday Night Raw. This week on Monday Night Raw, Michael Cole mentioned than Punk was officially a free agent. Later in the show, General Manager Adam Pearce announced that Punk was invited to next week’s Monday Night Raw, where Pearce hopes to sign him to an exclusive contract as well. Punk is set to appear on this week’s SmackDown.

Punk has had some success on Monday Night Raw. Check out some of his time there over the years:

Opinion: I don’t think there’s much o a secret to what we’re seeing here with Orton and Punk likely being assigned to an individual brand each. That is hardly a bad idea either, as it gives both of them a nice boost for the next few months. Punk seems primed for a feud with Seth Rollins and that should give him something big to do in the next few months. After he likely signs with Monday Night Raw rather soon that is.

What do you think of the idea? How will Punk’s new WWE run go? Let us know in the comments below.
