Worth it? WWE regularly presents all kinds of major events throughout the year and it can be a big deal for a city to get one of those shows. The local economies benefit from having one of the events in their cities and as a result, there is often a long form bidding process to get one of the events. WWE has announced that the 2024 Royal Rumble will take place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. According to the St. Petersburg Catalyst, Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (the city’s tourism board) bid over $500,000 to win the right to host the event. Fans from all 50 states are said to have already purchased tickets to the event with over 40,000 fans expected for the show.

It draws big crowds. Check out some Rumbles past:

Opinion: This shouldn’t be a surprise at all as the event will bring in all kinds of money. A good chunk of those 40,000 people are going to be coming from outside of the city and they are going to need hotels, restaurants and entertainment while in town. They might even like what they see and want to come back later on. It’s an investment that is made for a bigger payoff later and that seems to have already paid off.

What do you think of the investment? What do you expect at the show? Let us know in the comments below.
