So you’re saying there’s a chance? Earlier this year, Paige had a rollercoaster two day stretch where she officially announced her retirement from in-ring competition due to a variety of injuries and was then named the SmackDown Live General Manager the next night. The former wasn’t the biggest surprise as her career was put on hold for over a year due to a neck injury and then she was injured again not long thereafter. However, a doctor has recently said she could wrestle again, albeit with a heck of a catch.

She wouldn’t have much rust to shake off.

Paige wins first WWE match in more than a year: Raw, Dec. 4, 2017

According to the Daily Star, Paige was recently on Edge and Christian’s Pod of Awesomeness and discussed people asking her about a return to the ring from her injuries. When asked, she did say that one of her doctors had said she could return, albeit in about fifteen to twenty years. Paige, currently twenty five years old, said that the idea of wrestling at forty years old didn’t appeal to her very much. She also added that her injuries are different from the recently returned Daniel Bryan, as her problem is a spinal injury while Bryan’s was a concussion issue.

Why was Paige named SmackDown General Manager? It doesn’t have much to do with wrestling.

Opinion: I don’t think this is the biggest surprise in the world. At the end of the day, stepping away from the ring for over a year and then not being back in the ring for three months before another injury takes you out again isn’t a promising sign. Paige has a severe condition and while she’s still around on television, the idea of her ever doing something physical again should stay just a thought. The risk of her getting hurt even more severely is far too great and there’s just no need for it to happen.
