That’s a serious one. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling, some of which can be rather intense. At the same time though, there is always the chance that an injury is merely part of a storyline, which can be used to advance a feud between various wrestlers. The latter appears to be the case with a current WWE story and the company is making things sound rather bad.

The main event of this weekend’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event saw Cody Rhodes successfully defend the WWE Title against Kevin Owens. Following the match, Owens attacked Rhodes with a package piledriver, resulting in Rhodes being taken out of the arena in an ambulance. WWE has provided an update on Rhodes, saying that he did not have a neck fracture but he did suffer an axial compression of the cervical spine and a cervical strain with spasm. There is no word on when Rhodes will return to the ring.

Opinion: That is one of those WWE updates that sounds rather serious and now we are going to have to wait and see what happens with Rhodes’ future. There is a good chance that he is going to be out of action for a little while but he is going to come back to get his hands on Owens again. That should make for a heck of a showdown and WWE did a good job of setting it up in advance.
