That might explain things. There are all kinds of injuries that can slow a wrestler down and you never know when someone is going to have to miss time as a result. Occasionally these injuries can be tied in to what you are seeing on television. That very well could explain a rather surprising result that took place over the weekend as new champions were crowned.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Not Fans: Wrestling Veteran Suggests WWE Wrestlers Unhappy With Nia Jax’s Return

Over the weekend at AEW Collision, Big Bill and Ricky Starks defeated FTR to win the AEW Tag Team Titles. Cash Wheeler came into the match with taped up ribs and was chokeslammed through a table during the match, resulting in him staying on the floor for the remainder of the match. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Wheeler is dealing with a real injury, which he suffered during his match at WrestleDream. It is not clear when he will be able to return to the ring or what kind of injury he has. It is also NOT established that the title change was due to the injury.

Wheeler and FTR are pretty good. Check out what they can do in the ring:

Opinion: This would explain a little bit, as the title change came out of nowhere. I’m not sure if FTR is needing some time off to heal up a bit and can come back later on for revenge and the titles, then this was the best way to go. Hopefully FTR is back in the ring sooner than later, as you never want to see anyone injured, especially when they are workhorses like FTR.
