Plan B. We are just about a month away from Summerslam and that means it is time to start the build for the show. There are no more pay per views between now and then and that means the stories and feuds are starting to come together. Therefore, you are going to be seeing matches and angles set up on television. One angle seems to have started, though it wasn’t the original plan.

The Raw women’s division has been shaken up this year as both Becky Lynch and Charlotte are on extended absences from the company. That leaves some doors open though, with two big spots available to be filled. WWE has been trying some different names in there, and now it seems that we know who is going to be getting a pretty big spot at this year’s Summerslam.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan for Summerslam will see Raw Women’s Champion Asuka defending against Shayna Baszler. This is not the original plan though, as Asuka was going to be defending against Natalya. However, Natalya has not been on WWE television in several weeks for reasons that are not clear. Asuka vs. Baszler has not been announced for the show.

We know where things are going. Check out what all of the possibilities could have looked like:

Opinion: This makes enough sense, though I’m still trying to wrap my head around the idea of Natalya getting another title shot on a major show. Baszler has barely been seen in recent months but she hit the ground running when she first arrived. I could go for more of her on the show but Natalya is someone I’ve seen so many times over the years that any impact she had is long gone.
