They’re onto something. Merchandise has a major place in wrestling as it has been a factor for the better part of forty years at minimum. You will see all kinds of traditional as well as strange merchandise items, though sometimes a traditional item will be turned into something a bit different. That is the case again, as a somewhat controversial item has been quite the success.

Last month, Chris Jericho attacked Adam Cole, allowing the Outcasts to attack Cole’s girlfriend Britt Baker while Cole was forced to helplessly watch. The attack left Baker with a black eye, an image which AEW has released on a t-shirt. The shirt has raised some controversy over the focus on Baker being injured with no context. However, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, the shirt was the highest selling in AEW this week.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that you see happen occasionally but it is quite the questionable looking shirt. At the end of the day, the shirt is going to raise some eyebrows and it might be a bit more trouble than it is worth. AEW fans will get what is going on, but that is the kind of thing that can cause some issues of its own. Either way, it is making money for AEW and Baker, so for now it is at least something of a success.
